Last i knew someone left what looks to be a medium sized friend near the lip

Even though your question was asked a while ago...

To tell ya the truth I don't think you top it out. This was originally a TR problem from years and years ago. The friend was because they used to back rope it or whatever the hell the term is (no corrections please- I don't care what it's called.

I do remember Gary and Pete cranking all over this thing and after turning the lip they kinda jumped off. I may be wrong though! There's pix of them in the photo gallery.
